Ipé Wood Decking Boards and Dimensional Lumber (scroll down for pricing).
Ipe (pronounced "ee-pay") is an exotic Brazilian Hardwood that makes not only a beautiful hardwood deck for you and your family to enjoy for years to come but is low maintenance as well.
Ipe consists of dark brown tones and is known as Brazilian Walnut. When the sun hits your new Ipe deck you might even see a reddish or a greenish tint in some of the boards.
Our Premium Brazilian Ipe Hardwood can be used for many applications due to the fact that it comes in various sizes and lengths, and you can also take advantage of our custom mill shops to meet all of your building and project needs.
Please keep in mind that this wood, +/- 1/16" which is an industry standard tolerance., especially with milled wood.
Ipe is the hardest of our Brazilian Hardwoods. It is approximately 3 times harder than Oak with an approximate 80 - 100 year life expectancy. Ipe is naturally resistant to bugs, mold, mildew due to its density and hardness (Janka Scale 3680). Once your Ipe hardwood decking materials are installed, you do not have to do anything to your new Ipe deck for it to last for years to come, but it will turn to a silvery-gray color if you do not apply a UV Finisher specifically made for Hardwood.
Ipe not only meets but exceeds the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements for slip resistance when wet so it is perfect for high traffic areas, decks, ramps, docks, piers or by your pool.
Certified Ipe and Kiln Dried Ipe are available - please call for information.
Wire Brushed - if you are looking for an unusable look for a wall or ceiling, we can wire brush your Ipe for a one of a kind unique look! Please call for details.
Tips: Always use carbide tip tools (drill bits and saw blades). Always pre-drill your deck boards before installing any fasteners.
*** Please Note - DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
Don't let companies "lure" you in with low prices on 1X6 Ipe and then do the old "bait and switch" to a higher priced product. 1X6 Ipe (3/4" X 5 1/2") has been used, tested and proven for decades. Please don't let anyone tell you that you have to go to a 21mm decking board. You are only talking approx. 1/16" of an inch (.076 of an inch) difference in the thickness (see picture below). Ipe 1X6 has been tested, tried and true for many, many years and will span either 12" or 16" joist spans! We can get 21mm Ipe, but why pay more for it? Don't let low online prices for 1X6 then a "bait and switch" to 21mm (for more money) fool you.
Ipé Decking Wood - why we prefer to speak with you to order your deck boards.
**IMPORTANT - Please be aware that on some websites with online ordering, their linear foot price goes up with the length that you click on while ordering, so it is NOT the linear foot price that you first see and think you are paying.**
We prefer to speak with you about your needs and to see how we can help save you money and we give you a written quote so you know exactly what you are getting and how much you are paying for it. For example, if you are cutting your boards for steps, landings, walkways, etc., we can save you a lot of money!
This is all Premium Grade Ipe hardwood deck boards, siding, lumber, and more. Please let us know if you need specific lengths, we can provide specified lengths. If you are going to cut your boards into short lengths, we can save you money, 3' - 7' are less and you can specify what length you need!
*NOTE: Please keep in mind if you want/need all one length - (Ex: all 12' or 16' and longer lengths), the warehouse may have an up-charge (not always) depending on the current inventory.
- Grooved add .40 l.f. T&G add .50 l.f. (1X6 T&G is 11/16" thickness once milled and 5/4X6 is 15/16" thickness once milled).
- We can also groove one side only for the edges of your deck.
Important: Please email or call us for a custom quote and call to place your order. We do not use online ordering for our wood, by speaking with you, we can ensure that you are getting exactly what you need and we may be able to help you save money on the lengths that you want.
Truck load pricing available, please ask. No job is too big or too small, no minimum order required.

Great New Fascia Ideas:
This is becoming very popular! Instead of using a 12" (11 1/4") wide board for fascia, now you can use narrow boards. Narrower boards will not tend to cup like the 12' wide boards. This not only gives you an all new look but adds dimension to your fascia as well. This opens up a whole new world for the species that are not available in the wider boards such as Cumaru and Garapa!
Here are some ideas, you can use 2 species for a two tone look, stain part of it, paint it, the possibilities are endless! Click on the picture to enlarge it.

The gorgeous tones and shades in Ipe is what makes every Ipe deck even more beautiful and unique than the next. Ipe wood decking creates a look like no other. Every Ipe deck is unique due to these beautiful hues.
Hardwood Decks are beautiful even once they turn gray.
If you want a beautiful, long lasting deck without having to put a finisher on it, Brazilian Hardwood Decks are the perfect choice!
Grayed Brazilian Hardwoods also look beautiful on Coastal Homes and homes that the gray color would enhance the look of.
If you end up not liking the gray color, you can use a Cleaner/Brightener product and bring the color back to your deck, then you can apply a UV Finisher on to preserve the color.
Never pressure wash your deck, always use a garden hose. Even though the Brazilian Hardwoods are extremely hard and dense, pressure washing can damage your wood and/or raise the grain. (If you have to use a pressure washer, make SURE it is on the lowest possible setting).
Secondary Ipé
Please call for availability.
This Ipe didn't make our cut for Premium Ipe, so we re-mill it to remove as much as possible of the natural characteristics in the wood, such as knotholes. The result is a less expensive Ipe called Secondary Ipe which may have small knot holes or imperfections but it does not affect the integrity of the wood and it is milled to S4S and E4E. This Ipe lumber is perfect for fences or decks when you are looking to save a little on your latest project.
Custom milling is available.
