Cable Railing Kits

RailFX Cable Railing Kits come with Stainless Steel Cable Railing Hardware Fittings for both ends of your cable run, along with all washers and fasteners necessary. Your choice of 1/8″ or 3/16″ diameter 1×19 Type 316 stainless steel cable and installation instructions.

Cable Railing Kits come in cable length increments of 5′ to 70′ lengths. You will then cut the cables to their proper lengths on site. Each kit contains one cable plus all associated hardware for that cable.

Accessories, such as mounting tabs, cable cutters and other installation aids and equipment can be ordered separately. For coastal applications in a salt water environment, it is strongly recommended that E-Z Clean is purchased along with any kit. While Type 316 stainless steel, the most corrosion and rust-resistant stainless steel available, is used almost exclusively in our hardware, it is stain-less steel, not stain-proof. If you’re near the ocean, some maintenance will be required.

Fitting Types

  • Non-Tensioning fittings are coupled with tensioning fittings to support the cable as it is tightened to the appropriate level to pass your local building code requirements.

  • Tensioning: Every cable run needs at least one tensioning fitting to ensure the cable can be made taut enough to pass your local building code requirements.

The 601 Series Kit can be used with both existing or new install wood posts. One of the fittings will install through-the-post and the other fittings will mount to the face of the post. RailFX 212 Series Kit

Straight cable runs and cable runs through one corner are the perfect applications for the 212 Series Kit. There needs to be dedicated end posts for each run, and posts situated such that the back side of the posts are all accessible, meaning you can use a through-the-post configuration.

When taking cable railing through a corner, do not bend the cable past 45⁰ at any one time. If turning 90⁰, a 2-step turn, using a double corner post configuration is required.

RailFX 500 Series Kit - Composite Sleeved Posts

Cable Runs on a Pitch

Top posts are often corner posts, which may require the stair run to connect to the face of your post. The top and bottom of the cable run would be connected perpendicular to those posts, only the intermediate posts would be drilled on the angle for the cable to run through.

Use the 500 Series for sleeved posts with an outside diameter greater than 4½”.

The tensioning device is an Adjust-a-Body® with Threaded Eye, which attaches via a mounting screw to the lag eye, threaded tab or extended length lag eye, depending on the kit.

A Push-Lock® with Threaded Eye attaches the same way to the other end.

As it is not recommended to bend cable through a sleeved post, stair to landing for sleeved posts would be two separate runs.

A Push-Lock® with Threaded Eye attaches the same way to the other end. The 500-W Series can be used to go up a stair and across a landing by inserting post protector tubes ( CS-TUBE ordered separately) in the break-over post. The tube will prevent the cable from carving a groove into your post over time where it exits at an angle.

RailFX Basic 102 Kit

For either wood or metal posts, use the 102 Basic Series. The tensioning device is a 2-7/8” long threaded stud which installs on the back side of one of your end posts.

When taking cable railing through a corner, do not bend the cable past 45⁰ at any one time. If turning 90⁰, a 2-step turn using a double corner post configuration is required.
